Warehouse Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager

Basic Function

As a Warehouse Lead-

  • You will be proficient in all functions of the "World Class Warehouse Specialist'' job description and be able to lead all team members in such functions.
  • Ensure alignment and fulfillment of the Company mission, vision, and value statements. Ensures fulfillment of the department Mission and vision statements.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient warehouse operation including inventory control and receiving, storing, and issuing merchandise. He or she will operate in a professional, ethical, and courteous manner with the goal of ensuring customer satisfaction.

Pay: $20 per hour. Review in 30 days

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Oversee the receipt of merchandise into inventory. Check for visible damage, make sure merchandise received matches the vendors' shipping documents and route products to their appropriate locations in the warehouse. Input receiving into the computer's system. Work to develop, implement and improve procedures for merchandise receipt, handling, storage, control, reporting, systems, and procedures.
  • Ensure that departmental operating, safety, and customer service procedures are being followed.
  • Follow appropriate procedures or suppliers' policies for notifying vendors and/or shipping companies for incomplete shipments or damaged goods.
  • Ensure the placement of store display merchandise. Run the transfer report; review any changes or additions with the Operations Manager. Ensure the transfer of merchandise from the warehouse to the display floor and other store locations, as often as needed.
  • Make certain all warehouse facilities are clean, organized, and secure. The vision is that when a customer walks in the warehouse, they are impressed with how clean and neat the warehouse is. The ultimate goal is to receive a "WOW" from the customer, in the form of a comment to the warehouse workers or noted on the customer survey card. There should be a couple of seats available for the customer to use if they would like. The area with the seats should be "clean enough to eat off the floor". All rows to be straight, with the product placed in the proper location. Equipment such as dollies/ladders should be neatly placed in the proper locations. The accessories area, pigtails, vent hoses, icemakers, etc. should be always neat and orderly. Desks should be clean, with nothing underneath them. If boxes are stored there for a period of time, they look neat and not haphazard. Items on the desk are stored in trays, not scattered on the desktop. All trash should be picked up and thrown away. The floor is to be swept daily. The outside of the warehouse (loading docks, and surrounding areas) is to be kept clean. The Lead ensures that all debris is removed, and that the area is safe for company personnel and customers.
  • Train and ensure ongoing improvement for all warehouse personnel
  • Leads the department in being a team. Helps each employee to feel like they are important to Kelly's Home Center. The goal is to guide each team member in understanding the importance of their job and how that job impacts the success of the company. Helps each employee understand the department mission and vision statements, and to implement these statements in their job.
  • Will strive to have continuous quality improvement in the department. The goal is to be striving for improvement in all aspects of the warehouse department by developing systems and procedures that improve how we do business. It is suggested to read at least one book every month that will help you to be exposed to new ideas and thoughts for leadership improvement.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Operations Manager.

Relationships:

The Warehouse Manager’s immediate supervisor will be the Operations Manager. He or she will work closely with the Sales Manager and Operations Manager to assure customer satisfaction with the company's services. It is essential the Warehouse Manager maintain professional communications with all other departments and employees to maintain good relationships within the organization and assure total customer satisfaction. The Warehouse Lead is to be an ambassador and advocate for Kelly's Home Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years on-the-job Warehouse experience
  • Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, flexible days, and hours (including Saturdays), beginning each day no later than 6:00 AM
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift, push and pull large appliances
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal/background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Warehouse Lead experience
  • Conversational Spanish
  • Basic computer skills/knowledge
