Why is my appliance taking so long to arrive?
If you have recently purchased anything for delivery outside of Amazon Prime you might have noticed an extended wait time. Sadly, appliance deliveries are not immune to the longer delivery times and the extended waiting periods.

We wish that we could speed things up, but we are only as quick as the companies that provide us with our products. We ask for your patience as we maneuver these lengthy wait times.
Why Are Deliveries So Backed Up?
Every business right now is dealing with low inventory, high inflation, and longer delivery times, but why? Why is everything messed up? Well, there are actually a couple of reasons that our inventory is lower, and our delivery times are extended.
We have noticed that there have been issues with every part of the supply chain that has caused so many things to be backed up.
Covid-19
First of all, the most obvious culprit, Covid-19. Everything was paused and halted for weeks (sometimes months) which backed everything up. When things started to open back up, the supply chain had a difficult time catching up - and we still haven’t caught up from the effects of the global shutdown.
Cargo Ships
In March 2021, an incredibly large cargo ship got lodged in the Suez Canal. It happened shortly after the world opened back up and it was there for 6 days! Although that occurred nearly a year ago, the supply chain hasn’t quite caught up with that disaster. When the blockage occurred, nearly 400 ships were impacted. They were waiting on both sides of the canal waiting for it to be free to pass.
Even when the cargo ship was released, it took some time for the waiting boats to pass through the canal safely. Many of those boats were holding a variety of items including furniture and appliances which have severely impacted the home furnishing industry.
We even came across a story where some of the cargo fell into the ocean. In October 2021, news broke out of a storm hitting a cargo ship knocking nearly 40 shipping containers into the deep blue. Situations like these are out of our hands, yet directly affect our business.
Reduced Workers
As we may all know, there is a labor shortage. You can see this effect just simply by driving down the street. You will notice sign after sign indicating that businesses are hiring. You will notice the extended wait times at restaurants, the backed-up lines at grocery stores, and in our case, the shortage of appliances.
A labor shortage impacts more than people you see face-to-face, the worker shortage is affecting how factories work. When something goes wrong with our factories, we are all impacted.
A worker shortage means fewer people to bring supplies, fewer people to build appliances, fewer people to test the products, fewer people to prepare the product to send to our stores, and fewer people to deliver to our stores.
Thank You for Being Patient
We are trying our hardest to get you your appliances as quickly as we possibly can. However, our hands are tied to many parts of the delivery process.
Of course, in an ideal world, Kellys Appliance would have your exact make and model appliance on the floor and we could send it to you the next day. However, that just isn’t the world we live in right now.
We hope you can be understanding as we maneuver this difficult time.
