Kelly's Signature Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

Sift together:

• 5 cups of flour

• ½ tsp. baking soda

• ½ tsp. cream of tartar

• 1 tsp. salt

Cream together:

• 1 stick softened salted butter

• ¾ cup vegetable oil

• 1¼ cup sugar

• 1 cup powdered sugar

• 2 eggs

• 2 Tbsp water

• 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350℉ or convection oven to 325℉.

2. Sift together the ingredients detailed above in a medium-sized bowl.

3. Cream together the ingredients detailed above in a large bowl.

4. Add the sifted flour mixture a little at a time to the creamed butter/sugar mixture. Scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure the mixtures are well combined.

5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6. Use a 1½ inch cookie scoop (or desired size) to scoop the cookies onto the baking sheet.

7. Add ⅓ cup sugar to a small bowl.

8. Find a jar bottom or a pastry press that is 1½ - 2 inches in diameter. Dip the bottom of the jar into the sugar and press down on the center of the cookie to flatten it. This is the perfect task for kids to help with!

9. Repeat until all the cookies have a jagged edge and have flattened.

10. Add a small well in the center of each cookie by pressing down with your thumb.

11. Bake for 8 minutes (reduce the time to 6 minutes for convection bake).
